I was at the Shaklee Global Conference August 12-16th and we were challenged to 100 Days of Amazing with the question of what could we accomplish in 100 days if we really tried? I was inspired by the challenge, both as a business builder who wants to grow my business in 100 days and as an individual! What could I do in 100 days?
My Journey to Amazing: My 100 Days to Amazing are committed to making a more successful business as a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I am also committed to 100 days to amazing health and fitness. I want to be fit for my future making sure that my health span matches my life span as closely as possible. This is my Journey.
Those of you who have read my blog before or heard me speak know that I am passionate about our identity. One of my favorite things to say is “I really like you being you, even if you being you is different from me being me”. Today I want to look at identity and how it plays a part in our journey to amazing! We will revisit this from time to time over the rest of our 100 days because I feel it is key in our growth, success, and well being.
To allow yourself to be uniquely you is important. Don’t try to be someone else, that’s their job! In the words of Dr. Seuss “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” You bring value to the table just being yourself.
Perhaps you don’t even know who you are. Maybe you have spent your life trying to live up to someone else’s idea of who you should be or who they think you are? Maybe you know who you are; your interest, bent, desires, skills etc. but you have decided it would be better to be more like “so-and-so”. Well today I want to tell you that you will never reach amazing or feel satisfied or self confident unless you let go of that and decide to be yourself. You have value, you have a unique skill set, you are someone who matters!
Why does it matter? If you are spending all of your energies trying to be someone else you are too distracted to accomplish the things that you need to accomplish and you are probably exhausted and frustrated wondering why you never “make it” or it is never “good enough”. So be a quitter! Quit trying to be someone else and just be you! Be the friend you are made to be or the employee, son, daughter, mother, father, wife, husband, person YOU are supposed to be. I know you will be surprised. I think you will like you and your life will change.
I have previously written a 3 part blog on identity from the perspective of who God made you to be that goes into more detail, you can read it by clicking this link. You may not be someone who believes in God, but it doesn’t change the fact that you have value as yourself and you should invest in growing who you are, maybe you start with finding out who you are! My challenge to you is to see who you are and invest in you and you will be surprised how amazing you will be at it! Maybe your 100 Days to Amazing is finding yourself and being the best you, you can be!
So, how’s it going?
Goal one, my Shaklee Business: Yesterday I was not “feeling it” but, I did it! I spent a few hours in my office and got up-to-date, sent out a few email campaigns and made contact with customers who I’ve lost touch with. Today I plan to make some follow up calls (ugh, still hate them) and working to change my attitude. I also plan to read every single page of the new product guide so that when I am asked about products I am prepared and informed.
Goal two, my health and fitness: I was so tired yesterday all I really wanted to do was sleep! Fortunately I know that often, exercise will give me energy and I jumped in and did it! I admit I probably would not have if I didn’t have to report in today. So, the biggest thing I’m seeing as I write is the need to adjust my attitude. My goal is to make exercise, fitness, moving etc. simply a normal part of life and not a task that I check off.
Speaking of tasks that get checked off, I am a huge list maker. I wouldn’t have done a single thing yesterday If I had not made a list. I made a list with what I wanted to accomplish in my business, my health goals for the day, and my housework. Because I’ve been so tired this week I would like to have done nothing, but I could look at my list and commit to myself to do one thing at a time and I admit it gives me pleasure and momentum when I see the list get smaller; then I think “wow, I only have 3 more things to do, I can do that!!” I also try to reward myself with something once I’ve completed my list. It might be a few minutes reading a book, or a quiet moment with a cup of coffee or some time spent doing watercolor. Whatever I choose it is a moment just for myself and I find it energizes and focuses me for the rest of the day.
Today I will stretch myself to find ways to move beyond my current normal as a business builder, I commit to a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise, will have focused quiet time looking at yesterday’s 5 tips to happiness, and of course I will Strip and Shake daily and Blog.
100 Days to Amazing! You can do amazing things. I believe you can; you believe you can too!
