Learning calm and quiet
What the 100 Days is about:
I was at the Shaklee Global Conference August 12-16th and we were challenged to 100 Days of Amazing with the question of what could we accomplish in 100 days if we really tried? I was inspired by the challenge, both as a business builder who wants to grow my business in 100 days and as an individual! What could I do in 100 days?
My Journey to Amazing: My 100 Days to Amazing are committed to making a more successful business as a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I am also committed to 100 days to amazing health and fitness. I want to be fit for my future making sure that my health span matches my life span as closely as possible. This is my Journey.
In America today stress, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed are a reality. As a matter of fact according to the National Institute of Mental Health anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the America, effecting 40 million Adults! Stress in America is through the roof and studies show that stress can cause weight gain, cardiovascular risk, damage to brain cells, especially in the areas of learning and memory and shorten your telemeres – there is a direct correlation between the length of ones telemeres and overall health The American Psychologial Association has done some interesting research on stress, I recommend their reading their research. Well, you get the picture. But, we may not be able to control our jobs, finances, life situations or at least not overnight, but we do have a great deal of control over out bodies and minds.
Meditation and prayer have been found to be powerful tools in helping stop and even reverse the effects of stress, lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety levels, and even improve clinical depression (never stop your meds or treatment without working with your doctor!).

- Why People who Pray are Healthier. In addition to what the article mentions, I already stated that I am a person of faith and for me prayer is a conversation with God which eases my mind, gives me wisdom, gives joy to my heart, and sets the tone of my day.

One common thread through the articles above is meditation and prayer and all show that taking time to quiet our minds, breathe deeply, relax, and center ourselves greatly improves our mental and physical health and allows changes how we view our reality leading us to feel happier in general. This is a powerful tool that cost nothing! Take some time today to learn the art of being calm and quiet. It may take a lot of practice, but even the practice gives you benefit! So, how’s it going?
Goal one, my Shaklee Business: I was out of town yesterday and didn’t have much opportunity to work on my business. I did wear a Shaklee necklace to open up conversation in hopes people would say “Shaklee, what is Shaklee?”. I also had business cards on hand. There were probably openings that I missed, but part of my growth is to even think in those terms and ask myself “Is this an opening to talk about my business? Do they want to feel better?” It is a weak area for me, but that is the point of the 100 days, to overcome some of the weak areas!
Goal two, my health and fitness: Well, I had a wonderful day off with my daughter yesterday and did no exercise and had awesome mushroom pizza! I started my day with a protein shake, knowing I’d be eating out and sometimes we just have the pizza. I’m not on a diet, but a lifestyle change and in real life we can eat the pizza as long as we don’t do it every day! My goal is to eat a largely plant based diet with fruits, veg, healthy grains and lower amounts of meats and also stick to healthier fats.
Today is Sunday and a little more “chill” in our house. I think it will be a great day to sit back and study the new product guide some more and add in some gentle Tai Chi and/or Yoga and of course I will Strip and Shake daily and Blog.
