My Journey to 100 Days to Amazing-24


Today’s tip for Amazingness:


Lies, lies, lies!  It seems like we face lies and liars everywhere we turn and science says we do, to some extent.   A 2012 study by the American Psychological Study determined that the average American lies about 11 times a week and a study in 2002 from the University of Massachusetts states that 60% of adults can’t go 10 minutes in conversation without telling a lie!  We lie to our parents, our spouses, on databases, resumes, profiles, our friends and so, but what would happen if we didn’t lie?

In an effort to determine if honesty would impact your health they did a 10 week study where at least half of the participants were told to stop telling major and minor lies while the other half continued as normal with no special instruction.  In this test the subjects had to check in weekly, take a polygraph and report on how they were feeling.  The results were impressive.

They discoverd that if someone from the no lie group reported back that they had told only 3 fewer white lies (major lies were similar in results) than the week before, they also experienced 4 fewer incidences of mental health issues such as melancholy, depression etc. and 3 fewer physical health issues, such as cough, sore throat etc.

Benefits of honesty:

  • Less stress
  • Improved sense of mental health
  • Improved sense of physical health
  • Self esteem
  • A feeling of being more honest
  • Improved satisfaction in relationships

As you contemplate ways to be more honest in your journey to being amazing consider these ways in which you may be less honest:

  • Outright lies
  • Exaggeration
  • Downplaying emotions
  • Gossip, which usually involves embellishment
  • Embellishment
  • Lies of omission
  • Being controlled in your answer so that the words you speak are true, but it doesn’t accurately display the situation or answer the question

This week give it a try!  Your mind and your body will thank you and probably your friends too!

So, how’s it going towards my personal goals to amazing? 


Goal one, my Shaklee BusinessHoorah!  I have a new member!  I love what I do and I love helping others find better health and healthier homes!  Now I just need to keep it up!


Goal two, my health and fitness: Yesterday I kept moving even when I didn’t want to and made my Fitbit goal of steps!  Today I will play with the babies and then finish the day with some Tai Chi and of course I will Strip and Shakle!
