Today’s tip for Amazingness:
Non-Toxic Furniture Polish
When I was growing up one of my weekly jobs was to do the dusting! I hated it! Then I grew up and realized I hate dust even more! Like many people I started out cleaning with whatever the most poplar cleaning products on the market were and had no idea that these items were toxic to my home, my family, and me! I already mentioned this quote in a previous blog post, but it is worth mentioning again “According to a 15-year study presented at the Toronto Indoor Air Conference, women who work at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than those who work away from home. The study concluded that this was a direct result of the increased exposure to toxic chemicals, many of which are found in common household products.”
Well there you go! Off the hook…no more housework!! Well, OK I guess that isn’t true, but there are things we can do to change our environment and one of those things is to use non-toxic cleaners.
A few years ago I learned about the fact that our homes are one of the most toxic places we go to in our day and decided to make some changes. I have tried a variety of “green” products only to find out that some weren’t so green as they claimed and I’ve tried making my own cleaning products. In the end I landed with Shaklee and love it! my main cleaning product is Basic H2, a super-safe, very powerful, all purpose cleaner and only .15¢ per bottle for the all purpose formulation (that is including the bottle, and shipping-check out this Basic H2 Math). I clean my walls, counters, sticky stuff, my windows, my floors, everything with it. It is fine to use on furniture as is, but them my friend told me a little secret to make my furniture shine, like my former golden liquid.
- 1 bottle of either the window formulation of Basic H2 (2 drops to 16 ounces of water) or the all-purpose formulation (1/4 tsp to 16 ounces of water)
- 12 drops of Shakleebaby Massage Oil (which I recommend you keep on hand for dry winter skin and shaving anyway! Baby yourself)
Mix together and shake before each use and voila, non-toxic furniture polish!
If you don’t use Shaklee I am guessing that you can adapt the recipe to fit your current non-toxic cleaner. Enjoy!

100 Days to Amazing! You can do amazing things. I believe you can; you believe you can too!
What the 100 Days is about:
I was at the Shaklee Global Conference August 12-16th and we were challenged to 100 Days of Amazing with the question of what could we accomplish in 100 days if we really tried? I was inspired by the challenge, both as a business builder who wants to grow my business in 100 days and as an individual! What could I do in 100 days? This blog is a journey, an exercise in learning ways to be the best me, I can be and to help you be the best you, you can be while I’m at it!
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
