Today’s tip for Amazingness:
Read a Book; a Children’s Book!
One of the greatest gifts we can give to children is a love of reading.
- Reading sparks the imagination
- Broadens our world
- Sparks innovation
- Builds better grammar
- Develops a better vocabulary
- Helps us become more well spoken
- Makes better learners
- Improves memory
- Reduces stress
- helps attention span
- Creates better analytical skill
- Makes better writers
- Improves focus and more
- Uses the brain differently than electronic devices
- A larger knowledge base
The next time you are in the library take a trip through the children’s section. Children’s books are not just for children, they are rich in artwork, teaching, imagination, and fun.
The artwork alone in many children’s books is worth of being a coffee table book. Children’s books can remind us of some of the important lessons we learned as children and may have forgotten and they can be healing too. I have used some of Max Lucado’s books when talking to groups because they are simple enough for, well…a child to understand yet they are deep enough to touch our adult hearts.
Personally I like little children’s books, but have been swept away by books for older children, such as Newberry Award winning books and do not be smug, the vocabulary in some children’s books is quite challenging and the stories are well thought out and deep.
Here are a few titles I recommend to get you started:
- The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear – Audrey Wood
- The Giver- Lois Lowry
- It’s About Time Jesse Bear – Nancy White Carlstrom
- You are Special – Max Lucado
- Underwear – Mary Elise Monsell
- Hotter than a Hotdog – Stephanie Calmenson
- Charlotte’s Web – E.B. White
- Winnie the Pook – A.A. Milne
- A Wrinkle in Time – Madeleine L’Engle
- Wake Up Mr. B – Penny Dale
- Bridge to Terabithia – Katherine Patterson
- Peter Pan – J.M. Barrie
- The Little House on the Prairie Series – Laura Ingalls Wilder
- The Tale of Peter Rabbit – Beatrix Potter
- The Chronicles of Narnia Series – C.S. Lewis
- Wind in the Willows – Kenneth Grahame
- Nursery Rhymes
- Book of Virtues – William J. Bennett
Pick up a book and teach your brain to think beyond the every day and to be amazing!

100 Days to Amazing! You can do amazing things. I believe you can; you believe you can too!
What the 100 Days is about:
I was at the Shaklee Global Conference August 12-16th and we were challenged to 100 Days of Amazing with the question of what could we accomplish in 100 days if we really tried? I was inspired by the challenge, both as a business builder who wants to grow my business in 100 days and as an individual! What could I do in 100 days? This blog is a journey, an exercise in learning ways to be the best me, I can be and to help you be the best you, you can be while I’m at it!
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
