 Today’s tip for Amazingness:

DIY Shaving Cream

I am all about a little pampering and I think there is nothing like nice smooth legs or my fella and his smooth skin (well, on the parts he shaves.  He has a beard, but you know what I’m saying.)  As much as I like the silky smooth thing I still want to use products that are safe for me and the environment and it can be hard to find, but in steps our friend DIY to the rescue.  Today let’s make some shaving cream!

I want to start by saying that a couple of the recipes I have, have been adapted from other recipes and I have used Shaklee Hand Wash Concentrate and Shaklee’s Enfuselle Moisturizing Shower Gel in place of Castile soap.  You may use Castile instead, but may need to increase the amounts.  Shaklee’s products are pretty concentrated and a little goes a long way!

Recipe 1: Shea butter and Coconut Oil blend

finished cream 1

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup shea butter

1 Tbsp plus a little Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil or Calendula Oil

1 Tbsp plus a little Shaklee’s Enfuselle Moisturizing Shower Gel  (Note, if you omit the Shower Gel this makes a dreamy blend for your feet and elbows!)

  • Fill a large pot half way with water and bring to a boil, insert glass measuring dish with a handle into the water and add the coconut oil.
  •  Once the coconut oil has melted add the Jojoba oil (or whichever one you chose).
  • Next add the Shea Butter, but be careful to not let this melt too long or stay too hot.  She Butter becomes grainy if it is overheated.  As soon as the Shea Butter is melted remove from the heat and pour into the bowl you will use.
  • Place the bowl in the freezer and let chill just until a fine film hardens on top.  It will look like this when you pull it out.
  • freezer part 1Scrape down the sides and whip with a beater or immersion blender until it reaches the consistency you prefer.

  • Put into a container and keep in the bathroom.  Don’t use glass for in case it gets dropped in the shower.
  • Caution: May make the bottom of the tub or shower slippery, just wipe down with a hand towel when you are done.

Recipe 2 – Adapted from Aromahead Institute

aloe shave cream

.5 0z  Shaklee Hand Wash Concentrate (If you use Castile Soap use 1 full ounce)
.50 oz aloe vera gel or a bit less
.25 oz jojoba
Feel free to add up to 20 drops of essential oil

Mix together and use in a foam dispenser.  Shake before each use.

Caution: May make the bottom of the tub or shower slippery, just wipe down with a hand towel when you are done.

Recipe 3 adapted from Modern Hippie Housewife

Mix together until emulsified and use in small bottle or add a little distilled water and use in a foamer bottle. Shake before each use.

Caution: May make the bottom of the tub or shower slippery, just wipe down with a hand towel when you are done.

Extra tip regarding raw honey: Put a tiny dab on zits to help stop the pain and clear it up in no time!

Other Shaving Ideas:

Many of the people I know who use Shaklee have told me their favorite product to shave with, just as they are with no additions, and I have tried them all and the above recipes and the truth is I really like them all.  Here is what they recommend:

The best thing about these items is there is never any soap scum!  We like to say that if you use all Shaklee items in your bathroom you have a self cleaning bathroom!  It is true that once I switched the bathroom became much easier to clean, you can’t beat that!  Contact me at to learn more about Shaklee products.

Whatever method you choose I hope you enjoy it and here’s a final tip for you ladies: :Shave your legs at night and change the sheets to fresh sheets right before you go to bed, it is sublime!!

100 Days to Amazing!  You can do amazing things. I believe you can; you believe you can too!

What the 100 Days is about:

I was at the Shaklee Global Conference August 12-16th and we were challenged to 100 Days of Amazing with the question of what could we accomplish in 100 days if we really tried?  I was inspired by the challenge, both as a business builder who wants to grow my business in 100 days and as an individual!  What could I do in 100 days? This blog is a journey, an exercise in learning ways to be the best me, I can be and to help you be the best you, you can be while I’m at it!

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
